Advantages with your trackle cycle computer - the subtle difference

After decades of nothing happening in terms of cycle tracking, natural family planning – in the field of female health products in general – a real trend has emerged in recent years. Thanks to better technical possibilities, but also due to the increased interest of consumers in this type of product and some courageous manufacturers, there is now a wide range of different options for dealing with your own body and cycle and recognizing when ovulation takes place, for example.

We are delighted that we are not alone with the idea of knowing and understanding our own bodies, because anyone who knows trackle knows that information and self-determination are inseparable for us. Knowledge empowers us, knowledge makes us independent. Bringing the processes in the female body out of the taboo zone was long overdue. We believe that this includes Knowing what you are getting into. For all of you who have lost track of the various options for cycle tracking in the confusion, here is a brief overview of the variants currently available on the market.

Which category does trackle belong to?

Pure cycle apps

By assuming that female cycles function similarly on average (comparable length, ovulation approximately in the middle), they can provide clues about the course of the cycle. To do this, they usually use a mixture of statistical values and previous cycles. The time of ovulation can vary considerably from woman to woman, but also from cycle to cycle, so that a purely statistical evaluation can be too imprecise. They are expressly not suitable for contraception, but only as a rough guide for the next menstruation, for example.

Devices that help with the temperature method

Digital technology also makes the classic temperature method, i.e. taking your body temperature in the morning after getting up, easier. While most women who use the classic temperature method used to have to evaluate their cycles by hand after taking their temperature, some providers now support their customers with smart thermometers. These can usually be linked to an app or another reading device and help with the evaluation of the temperature curves or take them over completely. Even if the temperature method can provide information about the previous ovulation, this alone is not a safe enough contraceptive method.

Cycle computer

In order to make the application easy and the evaluation as accurate as possible, some manufacturers have developed their own devices to help women monitor their cycle. This goes beyond simply recording body temperature and includes other parameters - things such as pulse rate, skin tension, breath etc. can also play a role here. If several body signs are used to determine fertility, these different parameters can reinforce each other. But here too, there are very good and less well-researched methods, not all of which are suitable for reliable contraception.

trackle: The cycle computer for you

trackle belongs to the latter category, i.e. it is a separate device that measures body temperature and evaluates the cycle. Because we wanted to offer the greatest possible security for the parameters that trackle uses for evaluation, trackle relies on a method that has been around for a very long time and is extremely well researched: the symptothermal method. This means that trackle uses CORE body temperature and not surface temperature, which can be subject to major fluctuations.

In addition, trackle uses at least one additional parameter for determining fertility according to the rules of the symptothermal method, namely cervical mucus. This means that ovulation detection is doubly secured.

Thus, trackle does not belong to the group of cycle computers that are based solely on basal body temperature and are therefore not approved for contraception – on the contrary: trackle evaluates according to the rules of the symptothermal method, which is even the only method of natural family planning (NFP) officially recommended by the German Society for Gynecology and Obstetrics (DGGG) as a hormone-free and safe method of contraception since 2024.

The sensor simply records the basal temperature during the sleep phase and transfers it to the app after waking up, eliminating the error-prone, spot measuring in the morning at the same time. This means: The evaluations of the trackle system are particularly precise and accurate – and the application is remarkably simple because the data transfer works wirelessly. Last but not least, the trackle sensor system is a certified medical device and officially approved for contraception. This sets trackle apart from almost all competing products on the market. This not only guarantees high safety standards but also regular checks of our products and processes, as well as safe everyday use.
